How to pack for a day hike
Hello everyone! This week I made a little tutorial video showing you how to pack for a day hike. A lot of the time it can be difficult to decide what and what not to bring on a hike. You don’t want to bring too much and have to carry a bunch of extra stuff, but you also don’t want to have too little and run out of water or get lost and end up in the dark without a headlamp. This video is just a basic example of some things that I bring when I go hiking. You can always add or subtract things based on your needs but I like to think that this is a good starting point for packing your bag.
One other thing that I also like to have on me that I did not include in this video is a map of the area I will be in. Whether that’s a physical map or one that you can download, you should always have a clear plan of where you are planning on going and where you are. A couple of my favorite trail map apps are AllTrails and Forest Maps. Both have free versions but you can also pay to upgrade and access more features. I really like forest maps as it’s only a one-time $3 purchase rather than a monthly subscription.
*I also pack my camera but I couldn’t show that in the video since that’s what I was filming with. ;)
